Learn and practice figure depiction in various poses using different materials. Skills such as scale, measuring, form, value, gestural and realism will be explored. This course will study human anatomy, and attendees will discover how small marks can make meaningful impact. This is an introductory course for all skill levels. Nudity may be studied.

Batik Exploration on Rice Paper

Learn the basic introduction to the world of Batik resist design on rice paper. Susan will guide learners through the process of design initiation, wax application, and dying surfaces with watercolor and ink. In this fun, hands-on class, you’ll learn how to use your phone or iPad to take and edit amazing photos. Work independently at your own pace with access to all ceramic tools and the wheel. Receive 25lbs of clay, glazes, and regular kiln firing. Two advanced courses with written approval from the instructor is required. This class includes access to upwards of 20 Open Studio hours which will be outlined in the Independent Study Agreement once approved to join.

This is not a clay-based class, rather a course on 3D form in a variety of hands-on, tactile materials. This is a great foundation for emerging out of the 2D flat world of creation.
