Entrepreneurship for Creatives
Program Overview:
South Shore Arts, in partnership with Hammond Development Corporation and IronWorkz, is offering a NEW pilot program to assist a cohort of up to 12 creative individuals to turn their creative passion into a sustainable income or viable creative practice.
This 8 month program will combine time for both individual and group creative work, educational workshops, artistic and business mentoring, and opportunities to hone your skills, practice your learnings, and make a community impact by working together to create a piece of public art.
Each participant will receive at NO COST personal studio space available a minimum of 15 hours per week at South Shore Arts’ Substation no.9 Art Center in downtown Hammond in addition to 2 development programs provided to understand key entrepreneurial concepts and to develop your own business plan to successfully grow your creative passion into a sustainable source of income and even a viable creative practice. These educational programs will take place 1-2 evenings per week at the Hammond Development Center also in downtown Hammond.
Not only will you receive time to develop your skills and build your portfolio of work, you will also receive training and mentoring from professional artists and business professionals alike, as well as opportunities to apply your learnings in practical events to promote your work.
